I believe you can use them anywhere a check is accepted. There shouldn't be any requirements that the vendor/retail outlet has to accept AMEX, because it is a check with a routing number on it. 😉
 
I thought you had to use them where AmEx was accepted. I could be wrong.

N.Fusion...by the way, did you test drive an Aztec for that? just wondering 🙂
