True. Especially if you're using it in another country... people shamelessly stare at the card, and you get better treatment. (OK, mebbe not that great...)

I don't use the Amex a lot while traveling... I get better dollar to other currency rates on another card.

Main thing is the emergency card replacement... i think they replace it for free within 48 hours, wherever you are. Plus, if you lose your card.. you can still check into a hotel, Amex will talk to the hotel and make sure you can check in without having the card on you.

I wish I could get one, being an employed student sucks. I'm a deadbeat with no debt and pay all bills on time.

 
Customer service is excellent. I have a Blue for Students card, and I use it almost exclusively. I had a charge dispute at a restaurant where they charged me two different amounts two days in a row. They refunded everything without any questions. Also, the online interface is very clean. I enjoy the yearly summary that details what you spend your money on. Good card.
