If Ford sticks that 5.4 motor in this truck, it will be absolutely dog ass slow.

Their new pickups are sweet, but that motor is really holding them back from dominating the truck market.

Oh I think a diesel 6 would be an outstanding choice. Still gets loads of torque, lighter motor, possibly better fuel economy. I think any turbo diesel motor in the 1/2 ton category would be a near sell out. Assuming of course that the option to go to a diesel motor doesnt price the truck out of everyones range.

the Dodge Cummins motor is only a 6 cylinder the 2003 numbers were:

High Output 305 hp / 555 lb-ft torque

Standard Output 250 hp / 460 lb-ft torque

Mmm mmm mmm, I'd love to get me an MXT and just bling the sh*t out of it. I'm talking 28" chrome rims, subs in the bed, custom grille, the whole works! If they ever go into production, that is...

Man, America is all about living BIG.

Don't bash it. Just go with the flow, but whatever you do, don't down play it.

Sure these big SUVs are a menace on the road (depending on driver of course) and sure they drink way to much gas, but if America wasn't about living BIG, Ignorant and wasteful lifestyles, then you wouldn't be very happy right now.

Yup, that's a fact. Straight from me.

edit: Oh yeah... Ford sucks. :)

I realize that this design was probably set in motion 3-4 years ago when gas was still relatively cheap but given today's gas prices, I can't imagine a big SUV being a big seller. The article mentioned that Ford is doing this to keep up with GM, so to speak. Given that GM has seen a double-digit drop in truck and SUV sales, that doesn't seem to be a very good target for Ford to be aspiring towards.

Do the Ford bigwigs know something about the future gasoline market that us peons don't know?
