The book about the Bush Family

Another take - from the Houston Chronicle

Has anyone here read this book ? If so what is your take on it.
The 'Review' by the Houston paper seems to be quite critical about it,
and the author (Kevin Phillips) is supposed to be a 'dyed in the wool'
longtime Republican with no axe to grind.

(Someone gave my wife a copy for her birthday, maybe someday I'll read it, just not yet)

I listened to an interview with the author. Elections are first about name recognition which takes a fortune to establish unless you are born to it. Look how Arnold and Reagan did. We completely lack a method for choosing our wisest people to lead. We elect the famously telegenic who remind us most of ourselves, probably the last people on earth we should be electing. Of course cream rises and occasionally gets on TV and is reasonably good looking. Occasionally we might have an accident and elect somebody has way decent.
