America dumbing down

I thought it was going to be an article on the education system. Too bad it got off topic fast and turned into a political bashing.

America is dumbing down...and led by a religious fanatic. Think there's a connection? Agree with the author 100%.

Do you have any numbers/facts to back it up? I am just curious how the percentage of relgious followers have fallen or risen in the past few decades. Seems to me from looking around that Chritianity has actually decreased, while others (Islam?) are increasing.

As previously stated, the article quickly turns to political bashing. That said, He seems to do what he accuses the rest of the US doing. Lacking critical thought, there is very little evidence and quite a few ad hominem attacks. I happen to disagree with much of the current political state in the US, however the authors attacks lack suffiecient evidence to be taken seriously.

Also, this problem has been considered way before Bush's time.

He's right, kids have an attitude that they shouldnt have to try, but its not their fault. It has been engrained into them since elementary school. High school was a fvcking joke. I got a 4.0 taking all honors and AP classes and I didnt do jack sh!t. Kids need to be pushed harder when they are younger so that they have a good work ethic to begin with, then they wont complain when classes at the high school and college level are harder.

edit: wow, that article quickly turned into a political rant

I agree with his basic points. Hell just watching Jay-Walking on the Tonight Show proves how dumb Americans really are.

Good point since that is a completely unedited segment made to make people look smart. I'm sure that would never happen in any other country.

i dont know what he's talking about... but when i was in college, we pretty much did the textbooks cover to cover.
