UK defended itself brilliantly against German aerial attack and prevented any possibility of a ground invasion. US provided some hardware and economic assistance but the UK probably would have stood its ground without it.

US was in the European war from 12/41 to 5/45 when it ended. The war started in 9/39. We didn't come in near the end and we didn't participate only a bit.

Neither the US nor the UK, nor both combined, saved Europe from the Nazis. The Russians beat Germany militarily and they would have beaten them without US or UK military involvement, possibly even without Lend Lease. The war would have gone on longer but Russia was going to win with or without a western front.

The US and UK stopped the USSR from putting all of Europe behind the iron curtain, and the UK could not have done that alone since they could not have successfully invaded France without the US. That is the real legacy of US involvement in the war. Not stopping the Nazis nor saving the UK but stopping the USSR from steamrolling the entire continent after finishing up with the Nazis.

Just thought I'd bring some historical clarity to the issue.

I think you would be surprised as to the amount of micro and craft breweries that exist in the US, as well as the rising popularity of craft beer and home brewing. I have had some good ales from the UK, you guys know how to make some good stouts. However, from what I have tried ales from the UK don't have enough hops in them. It could be a regional thing, microbreweries in the NW, especially Seattle and Portland, are known for highly hopped beer, especially IPA's and pale ales.

Yes...but what really beat the Nazi's was the Nazi's. Had Hitler - once hostilities started (or some could say resumed) - let his generals/admirals run the war, they'd have likely prevented the US from resupplying the UK, beaten the UK (with or without US resupply, it wouldn't have mattered, since they'd not have taken on the USSR at that time and hence would have finished off the Brit's), and then turned around and beaten the USSR. Ironicaly, it was the Nazi's incompetance that defeated the Nazi's. Certainly it was little the UK did, less little the US did. Second after the Nazi's was the USSR. This is another example of JoS either not being who he says he is (one would hope no military officer could ever be that misinformed about the last major world war), or he is and is seriously F'd up. Maybe he's just seriously F'd up either way?

I wasn't actually talking about the quality of the alcohol I was talking about the people's capacity to drink it I've enjoyed some great ales in the US
