Amercian Map Skills

Saw this before. Only proves the average America is a retard that knows nothing of the outside world.

But then again, with these things they interview a lot of people and only sample the retarded answers.

Ok that was just dumb. Let me video tape an unknown amount of people and show 10 of them making fools of themselves....right....

Amercian Map Skills
That's American.......

Dont Be Another A Victem of Router Abuse.

That should read:
Don't Be Another Victim of Router Abuse.

And sure, some Americans have crap for map remembering skills, not reading. I'd think most Americans can READ a map, but you're pointing out the quoted persons have no skill in remembering where countries are located. Reading a map and remembering/locating countries are two different things.

Take some backwater peasants in China.....could they locate Holland, Sri Lanka, Nambia, Vatican City? Seems the interviews were rather cherry picked to put our worst foot forward. Not each and every American, and not even the majority, will fail to locate Australia.......sheesh!!!

Exactly. I personally have no desire to memorize a globe. I can read a map, and know the general vicinity of most nations. Combine the two and I can probably locate a country...except for Andorra and Liechtenstein. Who cares about those two? 😉

In my experience most folks seem to know how to read a road map but falter when it comes to reading topo maps.

What I find facinating is how different folks brains work when it comes to giving/receiving directions. I tend to Eulerean in that I like to give directions as turn north at X, west at Y. Others like the LaGrangian approach of turn right at X, left at Y. Two fundamentally different approachs to directions that we mix and match.

Yeah, well your grammer sucks. See sig.

Whoops! You might want to check "grammer" to see if it's in the dictionary 😛

My spelling sucks, see sig. 😉

Hmm, I must have deleted the line about rocks in a glass house, which was my point!
