Read it HERE.

Considering all the Pro-AMD (can do no wrong/whose chips are faster/Intel sucks group) supporters around here, this will probably be ignored just like the fact that AMD will post a 3rd Quarter LOSS (back to the old ways it seems) and isn't faring too well in the price wars with Intel AND the loss of marketshare in the flash memory dept.

The stock will probably hit an all time low by the end of this week if not the next...hey, if you're really really optimistic, now may be the time to buy big--if AMD can continue to bleed money for a long time...

While I don't currently own an AMD processor, I do own stock (unlike most here, I put my $ where my mouth is) and really hope that AMD can turn things around and *really* maintain profitability--not just for a few months.

Fact of the matter is that like some companies with great products (3dfx) aren't as well run as others (Nvidia) business wise--AMD so far hasn't made the best decisions over the past few years and despite the recent gains in market share, it's obvious that it's not enough.

MSFT is at 57, DOW is 9976. AMD is not alone. Most firms are not doing well.

Of course, but you cannot blame their financial situation on the market...I'm pretty sure Intel is still operating in the black. ;)

yes, but intel has an extremely large product catalog -- if Intel were doing primarily processors [yes, I know amd does some embedded/flash], they would probably be hemorrhaging money too.

<-- considers buying up AMD stock.

AMD will survive.. I've got no doubt. BTW, most of my money has been in AMD for the past two years... I've seen it up and down.

AMD is a very good company.. It's market cap is less than the value of its physical and intellectual holdings. P/E ratio of 6-7... INTC - 30-35..

AMD isn't looking as pimp as it did a year ago but with the market where it is I don't think you can base a heck of a lot on this. Very few tech companies are doing all that well compared to the rest.

Good point. Based upon this its almost impossible making a real comparison of these stocks.

AMD has also had a stock split since then, remember. You have to take other things into account other then face value stock rates.

But then, one would be foolish to expect AMD's stock value to even approach Intel's even during their most successful periods.

the split was before the timeframe on that chart.

It split when it was around 90 a while ago.

Also, last year AMD made money on its flash memory business not really on CPUs. As with memory in general, the flash memory gig isn't what it used to be. I'm sure that fact has contributed to the declining stock, too.

it's last split was last year. WAY before the current decline.

EDIT: it split in august last year, a month after intel had theirs.
