AMD's official response to HT from Intel

"Official" benchmark results from any hardware mfg testing their our products means absoultely nothing.. it's all hyped up marketing, they all do it. Take it with grain of salt and move on.

Hoe Yeah!

That is on a i845G chipset if you read the fineprint 🙂 Not exactly Granite Bay or Springdale. I am a hardcore AMD for life but that benchie takes the best AMD mobo out there (A7n8x Deluxe) and pits it again that....

And I'm not to P4 savvy but on a non-dual DDR P4 mobo don't you need pc1066 ram to satify the processor or does pc3200 do the trick because that is what they used and might be another roadblock for intel

The way i see it is if we compare the top of the line, we do just that...compre the TOP OF THE LINE and that is where intel "wins".

But that doesn't mean I'll buy it 😉

How do you enable HT on a i845G chipset??? 😕😕😕

Why test HT on a chipset that doesn't support it? Hmmmmm...

EDIT: Ok, I thought the G was just for graphics. 😱

No kidding. An 845G?? Come one now.

Why not,Nvidia is cheating,Ati is cheating. Why not AMD . LMAO.😀

No, I don't think its cheating at all. If AMD were to cheat Nvidia style they would SAY it was using an 875P mobo but really use something else.

Really unaccurate comparison...yes

Cheating...no

Is it cheating if everyone does it? Or is it strategy?

you know what, as much as I hate to say it ... I agree

I just bought a 2.8C with a P4P800 ... I havnt done encoding or PI benchmarks .. but as far as gaming goes, I see about a 5-10 FPS increase with HT OFF. At first I thought it was just me, but after seeing this thread, I am more and more convinced.

That isnt to say that I am 100% happy with my 2.8C. I love it. Runs cool (with SLK-900-U) .. dunno about stock HSF. And the 800FSB eats up anything thrown at it.

as has been shown in the last few months, there are benches where the AMD platform wins and benches where the Intel platform wins....which means you should buy the platform that better suits your needs

AMD platform seems to win in the business benches, serious sam, and some other gaming benchmarks

Intel platform seems to win in the content creation, Q3, and some other gaming benchmarks

however, both platforms are WICKED fast for today's software, so a lot of today's benchmarks are useless anyways (480 FPS vs 430 FPS in Q3A?). buy what your budget allows and what platform is the best for what u need it to do.
