the inquirer reports that the FX-60 is a 2.6ghz dual core chip with 1mb cache and seeing how it's an fx series chip it will have unlocked multipliers for all of you overclocker's.

this will be the new gaming champ...........

i bet they will beat the 840 extrem edition even with hypertreading on.....

i bet intel's not to happy to here this....... LOL

got love AMD :)

Any idea if AMD plans on using hyperthreading in future CPU's?

they have no need to use this technology at the moment .. it would hinder their performance.

Dude...go look at Xbits latest game review with lik 20 cpus...the 840 XE gets beat by single core A64s of the 150 dolar variety.....It is just pig piling on.....

arse handed to it...

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/28cpu-games_4.html

weak!!!

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/28cpu-games_5.html

Intel dual core doesn't seem to work right like the X2 in this multithreaded optimised game...

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/28cpu-games_6.html

shows a boost in this multithreaded game but not as much as the X2's....

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/28cpu-games_7.html

not much to see here since the game is extremely graphics limited...hence bottom to top is like 5%....

Bottomline is the 840 XE and all of Intel dual core line sucks in games so bad now, any improvement for AMD is just beating a dead horse...

Um, how will a 2.6GHz FX60 be better than a 2.8GHz FX57 when the 2.6GHz FX55 is clearly slower for gaming?

There are very few games that can take advantage of dualcore yet.

Champ of desktop CPUs yes, but not quite champ of gaming, which seems to be of primary concern when people try to find an excuse for going dualcore as of late - not a reason at all.

come on think with your head's if the chip is 2.6ghz with unlocked multipliers then the chip can easily overclock to 2.8ghz and even faster. so it will match the fx-57 in gaming performance....... plus the added core will make even faster when more multitreaded games come out........

i just posted it because i thought it would help some people and to have a nice tread about dual core processors from AMD not to get rosted by every one in the forum........

2.0 3800+ beats it in majority of testing.. a 2.6 ghz chip you would'nt even know they are same generation.

new nvidia drivers utilize dual core to some extent, usually boosting dual core performance past single core FX series...

All I can say is that the performance of the AMD FX line is staggering. If you dont believe me, do some research online. search functionof AT is your friend. Once you read it the words" I told you so" come to mind.
