x2 Upgrade Experience:

1. Not for n00bs. 🙂

2. I udated BIOS to latest x2 (BIOS) and thought I could just throw her in again and Go, WELL NO !

3. Loaded It seems the driver I loaded for that wouldnt let my x2 load the OS.

4. Eg. Threw Her in the socket, then trned her on. Then all was good even in BIOS then Once it goes for the OS it stays there LIT. No kddin, 🙂

5. So I Did A Fresh Install of my New x64 OS Which is Legit BTW, lol

6. All Good... 🙂

7. So , There is another Glitch some peeps might notice without loading all there drivers. (my pute restarted itself , no meaning at all, So thats an easy fix, I put my mem From 2,5,2,2,2, 1T Too, AUTO. 🙂

8. I think This New CPU is a bit picky on MEM timmings but im not an expert.

9. Well have Fun I am..... 🙂

BTW MASS MEM errors......With certain BIOS's

2 Day's Later:

My MOBO's newest BIOS is F7, F6 says its the x2 BIOS, BUT I took a look at my motherboards Data Sheet, and says They used BIOS F5 for my CPU, So I looked at Giga's site Too no avail there was NO F5 BIOS, Just F1-F7 with no F5 I said hmm...

So I copied shortcut of the F7 BIOS replace it with F5 and walla it D/L'ed

Flashed the BIOS, Put the Ram too 2.0, 6,2,2,2 and 2T and jsut got done playing WoW for 3Hrs. So im kinda stoked. 🙂

Sounds like more of a hassle than it was all worth. Do dual-cores come into play more with online games than others? I would have gotten a SD core and saved a hundred bucks, but that's just me. Good luck.

bet you its the mem and not the cpu at all.

i had a pain in the butt time getting my venice 3000+ to work above 2.7.... but once i found the right mem settings (yes mem) i was able to get 2.8 stable...

these rev E chips have some really picky mem controllers

It's FINE now Believe me, I love My Brain. 🙂

BTW Guys this is DUAL CORE ! <- For Mr. Desktop there. lol

Glad its working for ya. Any opinions on whether I should go with a X2 3800 or a SD 3700? I'm looking at mosting a gaming rig (probably build it in 1-2 months) but I want this to last at least 2.5-3 years as a system.
