AMD64 Voltage?

Simple question,

I'm running an Athlon64 3000+ 939-pin. When I run the "nVidia System Utility", I see my CPU voltage jump from .9 volts - 1.4 volts, depending on the load.

Is this a power-saving feature of the CPU?

wow. ouch. could be cool'N'quiet i SUPPOSE. but i think it is most likely a power supply/motherboard issue. if its stable, dont worry (unless you intend to overclock)

Yeah, everything appears to be stable... I didn't even see an option in the BIOS for "cool'N'quiet" or anything like that.

Dont always trust those voltage monitors. Your chip wouldnt run if its vcore was .9 i wouldnt think.

Run prime95.

Yes, I think that's cool n quiet doing what it is supposed to do. This pdf
shows how the 3000+ down clocks to 1 ghz and 1.1V thus dropping the
power to <21watts. The 0.9 volts may be your motherboard fudging the
power a little or an incorrect reading from the hardware monitoring chip.

I was looking around on the AMD website, and I found a link of their 'Approved' Motherboards. Mine was on the list, and one of the features of this board is 'Cool'N'Quiet'.

It definately makes me happy that it's not broken and this is in fact a feature of the chip.
