I had another thread going. Sorry. trying to get more info to make my decision.
After looking around at the stores (do not want to buy a Dell due to tech support issues and other things) I only see Centrino's at 1.7ghz or less. At an online vendor you could go higher. But I like to touch what I am going to buy.
A few questions:
**Intel announced price cuts recently, think they will trickle down to laptops and be of significance by XMAS?
**Is the AMD 64 much faster (I assume so) than a Centrio and perhaps some Pentium 4's and of so--is there a downside?
**What is the battery life of a laptop wth AMD 64 normally?

Saw a nice Toshiba with 80gb drive (I want that size) and Centrino 1.7 ghz---would like a higher ghz Centrino but see none in stores YET.
