so this giving season, i'm upgrade my nforce2 ABIT NF7-S V2 + AMD Barton 2500 @ 3200 ...

couple quick questions ..

should i bother to upgrade to S754 AMD 64?

what's the current sweet spot for that chip. Looking for something that will OC on stock cooler.
motherboard? Something as full featured as the ABIT NF2.

I was reading the Buyer's Guide for more info.

i was looking in speeding between 200-250 or so ..

also have no plans to upgrade my videocard, 9700 pro

The sempron 3100 is a crazy OCer but lacks amd64. For your budget it's really that or a a64 2800. Just decide if having 64bit capabilty is worth the extra $5 or not. Also it seems the 2800 doesn't OC as much as the 3100, so higher performance may be had with the sempron. Mobo I say the DFI LanParty.

I don't know if you'll see too much performance increase... maybe a little, but your OC'd XP2500 should not be choking your 9700 Pro--if you're happy with the frames you're getting now in games, then keep what you have.

If you do go to an A64, you may not be able to find the features you need, depending on your definition of "full-featured"--Soundstorm's gone, but the NF3 250Gb chipset has some additional networking features, like GbE and an on-chip firewall.

Save another $50, Get a Socket 939 A64 3200+ and get a Cheaper NF3 Socket 939 Board... $300 ATM...
