2.7-2.8ghz should be possible on air. It just may take a little more tweeking. One thing you may want to do is raise your DRAM voltage .1-.2 volts. This tends to allow them to run faster especially on Corsair branded memory.

I'm now at 2805mhz.. with the following setup

HTT@247 x 11x CPU-Z is showing @ 255 x11 giving me 2805mhz

166 memory with default volts CPU-Z is showing it @ 200.4mhz

vcore @1.50 CPU-Z is showing @ 1.488

CPU Temp is showing 46 at idle and at 53 with 2 windows open and bf2 running!

For me this is a sweet spot! going to stress it out with prime and see how she does.

thanks again for all your help!

Provided you have sufficient cooling, is there a max vcore to use, or do motherboards cap them at a certain point?

Depends on your CPU and motherboard. With 90nm Athlon 64s, it pays to not exceed 1.55-1.6v vcore. Most boards will have some upper limit, though many will be able to push enough voltage to damage your chip.

yeah, my old 754 board let me put 2.0 vcore! :Q But generally within 10/20% of the stock voltage is where you want it, unless you're doing a suicide run.

What would be the best settings for 2700mhz? I have tried everything 80mhz FSB, etc and it will run fine at 2.9ghz, but not at 2.7, which is what I prefer to run this chip at (it's an E). Any ideas?
