AMD64 3500+ Newcastle Question

Now, I know that the good ol' Newcastle runs great deals hotter than the Venice, but...

Idling, I normally hang out around 50C. Full load goes up to about 55-56C. By comparison I know of a Venice 3500 hanging out around 30C.

Stock heatsink, no overclock, Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case that keeps everything else (BFGTech 6800OC included) really cool, even with the 90+F temperatures (this room stays maybe 70) we've had around here lately.

Really that much of a difference between the two cores, or should I probably get around to getting a better heatsink?

I have an AMD3500+ newcastle

I don't use stock cooling, I have some odd gigabyte cooler. Mine runs at 33c idle and 43c load. You have a hot proc! Perhaps the cooler is seated wrong? Maybe it's the thermal tape on the stock cooler... You really should eiher get a new cooler or spend 6 bucks and reseat it with as5.

Oookay. Hopefully it's just reporting wrong. Maybe. Doubtfully.

Guess I'll look into a better cooler, possibly one of those fancy Zalman's. I didn't seat this one the first time--someone else put it and the mobo in, because the system was a gift. Supposed to have known what they were doing. Whatever, just furthers my case for next time I ask for parts if anyone wants to bother for my birthday, making sure they come still in box..
