i would like to know what is the real difference between the 8 different zalman's found here. Is one lighter or bigger than the others? Why the price change when they all look the same besides some are AlCu and the others are Cu. Which one is the best and why? Just because one cost more means its better but they look exactly the same...?

Thanks,
Ayman

EDIT: the reason why i put this post in general hardware was because i didnt get any responses in cases/cooling thanks =]

The 7000, 7000A, and 7000B are differentiated by small improvements over the previous revision. IIRC, only the A and B can be used with Socket A.

The 7700 is bigger than the 7000 series and has a 120mm fan instead of a 92mm fan. The 7700 is also listed as compatible with the LGA775 socket, while the 7000 series coolers are not.

With any of them, get the AlCu version, as the all-copper Cu versions are very heavy and only shave a degree or two from temps at the expense of putting a lot more stress on your motherboard.

I have the Zalman 7700 cu, granted: ITs unbelievably ugly, due to its size (140mm span), and it weighs 1 kilo...

But does come with a fancontroller, and does its work quietly...With a couple of case fans you will be set with very good air cooling...

You're welcome. By the way, if you go with a 7000 series, look for whatever one's cheapest; temperature differences are probably very trivial between those three. Also peruse SPCR for more information on these and other HSFs.
