No built in video. I finally overcame the problem with the 1009.002 beta bios. I found it extremely odd that they have two seperate beta bios, dated one day apart. At least the most current one actually worked...

Kewl.

Now, how does it perform? I am shopping for something around this spec. Isn't the mobo the A8V?

I got this bundle, had the same exact problems, and ended up calling Tigerdirect. Turns out this MOBO and CPU deal is faulty, in that these 2 parts are not compatible. Can you believe this??? So, I get a full refund and an extra $7.00. You will also note they took the bundle off the site. Pretty disappointing, huh?

Actually they work fine if you use the 1009.002 bios from ftp.asuscom.de. They probably took the bundle off the site because the deal ended on 10/31.

I haven't had any time to benchmark them. I didn't get XP installed until 11pm last night and today was a complete wash. Im kind of stuck waiting on a new video card for my old machine before I can fully take it offline to copy its files.

It would be great if some of the guys who got in on this last month could past on some info about this. Retail or OEM , did the updated bios fix all the problems that people were having. In general happy with this or wish you had gotten one of the nforce3 mb. Thanks for anything you can past on.

Found a better deal.

ZipZoomFly: 3500+ Retail Combo with the same Asus motherboard for $383 delivered (2-day air). Tiger direct wanted $15 to ship, so assuming you get the rebate (which is a big IF), it's $315. This is $383, HL2 is worth around $35 - $40, so you're really paying around $345 for the cpu/combo. To me the difference of ~$30 is well worth it because (1) cpu is a 3500+ instead of a 3400+, (2) no rebate, (3) no tiger direct bullshiat.

Found this on another message board.

Also, the bundle does not come with a heatsink/fan. It's an OEM CPU, and therein lies half the problem we are having with the CPU. And looking at the prices on Tigerdirect again, I think we are probably better off ordering a 3500+ and the same motherboard.

So the ZZF deal just got another $10-$15 better since it includes a heatsink/fan.

(feel like I'm talking to myself here)

I think the ZipZoomFly deal is better. When you start figuring in the fan, shipping, and the rebate that may never come in.

I might have to jump on this.

Last time I made a purchase from them, they made other purchases with that same credit card and said I did it. I'm not giving them any personal information of mine again after they stole my CC# once!

I'm in the market for a new CPU/mobo... the 3500 is more than I wanted (thinking 3000 S939), and I'm willing to wait a couple weeks (ie Christmas). How hot is that deal?
