Ive got my parts from newegg. As im preparing to put the processor on the mobo, i cant find any literature on whether or not there is any thermal tape or paste on the heat sink, and im not 100% sure what im looking at on the bottom of the HSF. There IS a square of something...but i dont know what it is and the instructions suck.

When i built this PC 3 years ago, there was some thermal tape on the HSF of this amd2100 and it has worked fine.

For those of you that have installed your own 3200's (this is a winchester), can you guide me to determining if this product does infact have its own thermal material on it?

I did buy retail. fwiw, its going into an asus A8N-E.

it is greyish...but am i supposed to peel a layer away or anything. I remember this old 2100, i peeled off a thin piece of tape, just like those instructions said...but these instructions make no mention of any thermal matter whatsoever, nor can i find any literature on the amd website.

Is there something that looks like it peels off? Like a layer of plastic? The thermal compound has a dull matte look. If it's slick and shiny, peel off the top layer.

Just put it onto the CPU, it'll work fine.
