AMD64 3000+ overclock cut short

I've basically been running the comp in my sig at 2.35GHz for a while (man does it fly in folding) 261x9 with 1.65v. It ran folding everyday and nothing ever crashed. When I started playing half-life 2 or CS: source, the engine wreaked havoc on my overclock and crashed the game all the time. I lowered it to 2.3GHz (256x9) and finally 2.25 (250x9), which is where I currently am. Now the game doesn't crash, but every once and a while it will stutter or go corrupted so that I need to restart the game. The CPU is rock stable at 2.3GHz, I've tested it in prime95 for 30hours straight, so I wonder if the crash is associated with the memory contoller? At all speeds my RAM is still under specs. I was wondering if it was possible to bumb up voltages on the chipset or something to keep it more stable. This is my first A64 system, so I'm not that great with it =/ . Thanks for any suggetions, Mr. K6

ill give you an example, I had my computer at 2.6 for awhile and thought everything was fine.. played every game.. maybe got a crash but didnt seem to be oc'ed but than i noticed as soon as i played condition zero i would get this thing where maybe once an hour my game wouldlike freeze for 3 secs than come back and when i checked my ping it went nuts so i took the overclock down to 2.55 and it was working fine... than i noticed 2.55 was giving me problems.. i tested my ocz plat rev 2 memory.. the one at 290 SUPRISINGLY it didnt get errors..
i put the next one in... (i tested them seperately to look for errors and used different slots) i tested the second one and there was an error every 3 seconds.. but when it was below like 260 it worked fine... so check ur memory... thats what was giving me the most problems.. than i even realized after it being underclocked to 206.. that it was still giving me problems.. talked to ocz and i get my new memory tomorrow.. if worse comes to worse.. get a buddy with some crappy ram and just check it stock to make sure its not ur memory controller.. goodluck..

Yah, I though exactly the same thing and tested it. The RAM still checks out fine for a few hours in mem test (both sticks are good), and in every other game they work fine, but the source engine just wreaks havoc with them :(. I lessened the timings to 3-4-4-9 and they're running fine now. I'm going to individually test each stick in memtest for more than a few hours and see if they pass. Seems weird that they'd just bug out like that, but then again I was only playing BF1942, Tribes, and Doom 3 with them...

I couldn't run stable over 245X9 even with different HT and RAM settings.

Right now, I just run
HT = 4x
Memory 1:1

I hear test #5 & #6 are big for the A64's.....

I ran 100 passes on each to find stability...10 passes with all extended test did not find errors...surprisingly cause the ram didn't crap out a few errors until the 22nd pass and then again about the 40th pass, and then again the 60th pass...and so on...basically every 20th pass....
