I am running a WD80G gard drive w/ 8mb buffer. THe set up should haul and in several test it killed my old set up but in real life its slower.

Old set up. 2.26 P4 533mhz f bus, 512 mg of 1066mhz Rambus, 4400 Gforce, GIgabyte board w/ 850e chipset.

Any ideas what up? Could ATI's Vid Card not be Compatible w/ the Nforce chipset?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What benchmarks/real life apps exactly are you running on it? This might help because different applications test different things.

I notice you have a similar set up. I though about running the VIA chipset but in the end it wasn't in stock. How does yours run?

Is your hardware the issue? Or is your OS to blame?
A *correct* winXP install w/ SP2 and all of the 'standard' options enabled for speed will help out a lot.
Also... viruses/spyware and/or some 'stupid' applications may create some bottlenecks.

I'd check those out before you're checking the HW - these are all quality parts, and they should play nicely together.
