I have a mobile Athlon XP1500+ and I need to build my daughter a system. Will this cpu work in a desktop motherboard and if so what would be some good examples and what memory due to the 200mhz fsb? The specs on the CPU from AMD are as follows:

AXMD1500DLQ3B

Type:
AthlonXP Thoroughbred/Barton Mobile 35W

Frequency:
1500+, 1333MHz

Package:
OPGA

Voltage:
1.50v

Max. Core Temp:
100°C

L2 Cache Size:
256K

FSB Speed:
200MHz

I'm an Intel person so if anyone could help, please do. All she'll be doing is browsing and playing the SIMS.

Any Socket A mobo released in the past 2 years should work, and the FSB should be 133 (266) instead of 100 (200) or else you would have 1.3 GHz (100x13=1300) instead of 1.33GHz (133x10=1333).

I recommend the NForce2 chipset and any cheap, name-brand (crucial, corsair, kingston) PC2100 RAM. From my own experience I highly recommend the Shuttle AN35N-Ultra, which is a solid mobo for the price (and is what I have now with a Mobile 2400+ overclocked to 2.3GHz, and it recognizes the CPU as a Mobile AthlonXP with the latest BIOS).

If you can get PC2700 RAM for almost the same price as PC2100, you can *most probably* run the CPU @166 FSB for a bit more performance.

<< EDIT >>

According to the info in this thread @ TechZonez, your cpu should be 200MHz fsb, it just doesn't match the rated speed of 1.33GHz that you posted above. It should still be able to run 133 (266) fsb without any problems.
