I just bought a new computer here are the specs first:
_______________________________________________
-ECS Mainboard KT266a(ver: 2.0 VIA chipset AMD XP ready)
-2 sticks of 256 mbs of DDR PC2100. (Micron and Samsung)
-Maxtor 60gb 7200 RPM 8.7 seek time
-G-Force 2 Pro 64mb (not overclocked)
-AMD Athlon XP +1700 (not overclocked with Volcano 5 Fan/Heatsink)
-Sparkle 300watt power supply
-Sound Blaster Live Platnium
-Windows XP Pro (Update) Previous OS: Win ME
-Case Fan
-DLink 530TX+ (Ethernet Card)
_______________________________________________

Nothing on my computer is overclocked or getting overheated in any way, although my computer is freezing randomly and is rather unstable. I will freeze every single time when I go into EverQuest SoL(Computer Game). It has froze just in Windows as well. I'm wondering if I have the right powersupply for this new AMD XP CPU and if its enough power (Powersupply: Sparkle 300 watt). I have all the new updates for my hardware as well.

Driver Info:
Nvidia 21.83 (Windows XP Detonator)
New 4in1 437 Drivers
Latest Sound Blaster Platnium driver from Creative.com

Please give it a shot...I need all the help I can get. Thank you very much for your time.

i dont have any answer to the freezes, but i can pretty much tell you the ps is fine, 300W is enough and sparkle is a good brand.

The Sparkle Power 300W is good - It worked perfectly fine on the ECS K7S5A - which i think was pretty picky about PSUs as well...

Yes, I've tried that as well.
Another funny thing is...when I boot up my computer it says I have 512mb
When I run MSINFO32 it says I have 384.00 Physical Memory and 389.63 Available Physical memory.
If I go into my device manager it says I have 512 mb of ram installed...very strange eh?

Any ideas on that?

Well, I don't know what MSINFO thinks, because I have 512 PC2100 and it thinks I have 1GB of physical memory, so I don't know where it gets the numbers.

Wes -

This may help.

"PCI latency" patch

The zip file contains a FAQ that has some good answers for some VIA problems - maybe yours.

It should be interesting to VIA owners who haven't read it.

Good Luck.

I have a sparkel 200 watt running a 1600+ on a K7S5A. Granted, there is only a cd-rom, video, and that's it, and it takes a 120mm fan to cool it, but it runs just fine :)

By the way, Tigerdirect is where I got the PWS, and for only $5. not bad at all. Pickup if in the Chicagoland area ( Global computers in naperville )
