Can an AMD Athlon 1600 XP processor run on a 250 watt power supply? Or, does the XP series processors need the same power requirements as that of the Athlon 1ghz to 1.4ghz line?

The xp have alittle bit less power requirement but not much...The core voltage is still the same and the amd still likes good clean power...I wouldn't touch a 1ghz tbird with a 250 watt so definitely not even a 1600+ xp...

I would think 300watt minimum up to 350 watt...good amd recommended...

Go to amd's site and see what they have recommended for xp chips (1500+-1900+). I bet there isn't any 250watts listed...

There are some 250 Watt Power Supplies that AMD recommends. I just wonder if AMD is taking into consideration other power hungry components such as a Geforce 3. I am thinking about getting a 400 Watt Power Supply because my Sparkle 300Watt PS seems to have problems, but I am not sure where my issue is coming from. With Geforce 3, all games are unplayable on my comp with XP 1800. With Thunderbird 866 and Geforce, I had no problems.
