Long story short, one setup is free for me to keep.

Amd xp mobile barton 2400 512k, AQYFA stepping. Doing 2400mhz at a7n8x delux.

Intel p4 Northwood 2.8b 512k(533mhz bus) doing 3200mhz on Abit IS-10.

Probably going to have 9800 xt(pro flashed) or 5950U(5900 flashed) in the setup.

What combo would you keep?(as 2nd box=p)

I have athlon 64 3500+ rig and x800 xt pe for main "gaming" rig.

Price difference on those combo are almost minimal. Prolly doing game more then encoding on the rig though.

For encoding, I'd probably keep the Northwood combo.
For gaming the XP-M combo.

It depends on how far you can OC it. Stock... No it's not faster.
But 2.5GHz it rocks!

Here is a pretty comprehensive review that should give you some insight to your exact situation. The P4 they used is a C (800fsb) so you are probably better off comparing your P4 2.8@3.2 to the P4 3.0 in the graphs due to the lower bus speed of your B model. Overall pretty equal.

If I were you, I would base my decisions on the motherboards instead. The IS-10 is going to require 2xwhatever DDR to perform up to snuff, the Asus really only gets a slight boost from dual DDR. But the DDR required for your P4 bus of 152 needs only to be of PC2400 quality, not PC3200 as the Asus at 200 fsb would require optimally. The Asus requires a full size case, the IS-10 does not. The IS-10 has backup graphics for remedial work if you card ever fails or you are caught between upgrades on the video card. Asus has more expandablity, but are you going to use it? I think you would be best to evaluate the motherboards, then make your decision.
