AMD XP CPUs in older motherboards

Hey, I'm thinking of pulling my old T-Bird 1.4Ghz CPU and putting in a faster XP. Looking on the support site for my motherboard, I see that the latest BIOS rev supports XP CPUs but mentions the 2100+ and below only. Of course, when that rev came out the 2100+ was the latest processor so would the 2400+ CPU not work in this motherboard? Or would it only run as a 2100+? Or does that just mean that my POST screen would just look funny? I can live with that last one but the first two would be an obvious problem.
