I'm building up a new system with the following components:
EPoX-8K5A2+ Motherboard
Corsair pc3200 cas2.0 XMS memory 512 MB
radeon 9700 pro
some ibm deskstar 7500gxp drives

Okay, so my question is, which processor will give me a higher clock rate? the 2100+ or the 2200+? I saw a review on tom's hardware that seemed to indicate you could clock a 2100+ higher than a 2200+. Anyone have any experience with these two cpus?

Thanks!

You should get the 1600+, it should OC to 2200+ speeds. Also, unless you're fond of losing data and pulling your hair out, you should stay away from IBM DeathStar drives.

My athlon xp 2200 was able to overclock to around 1900 mhz.
If you can wait then I would wait a couple weeks for the athlon 2400. Prices should drop in a few weeks since AMD is releasing a 2800+ this week. From all the reviews seems like the 2400+ are overclocking pretty well.

I've got a brand new XP2000, should I install it or sell it and wait? It would replace a 1800XP.

You'd be hard-pressed to notice the difference in performance between a 1800+ and a 2000+. I'd just sell it and wait. You could probably OC your 1800+ to 2000+ speeds, anyway.

Haha, Nice Deathstar joke ;)

As far as the 1600+ goes, they OC great! Newegg sells specific AGOIA cores for alot cheaper than a 2100 or 2200, and most OC to that speed...

and beyond! (Check my sig)

My 2200+ overclocks to 2000mhz easily on air cooling. At that speed it makes it a 2400+. Still deciding if I should unlock it or I should buy the newer 2600+.
