AMD X4 960T may never come to retail

Glad I went with a 1055. Still sucks for those that were hoping to get this. AMD probably decided a lot of people might skip the X6 and wait for the 960T and unlock it to an X6 and so thought not to sell it?
 
They probably have great yields anyways since they are at EO silicon and selling 6 core cpu's at only $200.

I don't remember the prices but the 4x core thubans weren't that much cheaper were they? I'm guessing they may have had a Black Edition that people would have bought instead of getting the $300 6 core and just hope to unlock the 2 extra cores.

Ya I am very interested in what yields look like. Now that the x6s have been out for a while headroom and the 4.0 x64 issues of the past are for the most part gone. a 1090T looks to give you a very good chance at 4.0 with more possible if the board, ram and cooling allow. Some are getting 4.0 stable with the stock heat pipe cooler.

Hopefully yields and demand net AMD a nice steady quarter so they recapitalize and invest in the future generations.

Huh? Show me please where Intel was shipping 32nm products in November last year.
I'm sure, we're going to see 32nm AMD products next year at the earliest, MAYBE December if we are really lucky.
However, according to an insider Llano is already in production in three-figure numbers. The same insider said that AMD recently shipped 20 Llano samples to Apple.

I am pretty sure Llano is rolling out on 32nm SOI first (1Q 2011). There is an AMD roadmap from last year that shows the plans for their roll out, and I will update with it when I have a minute to find it.

This doesn't give specific dates or times (just years), I just remember reading that Llano was to be rolled out first, since it is a current architecture on a new process. Of course I may be wrong about that.

That's kind of a bummer, but I think most people (myself included) would rather them focus on getting Llano and Bulldozer parts ramped up and shipping.

It is likely capable, but at Stock speeds and 100% CPU utilization with my 1055T, the Stock Cooler gets so freakin loud. I have Under volted by 0.2v and that has lowered Fan speed by 400-500, but it still hits 6k rpm.

At the moment I'm tossing around the idea of spending $30 on a new HS/Fan or go all out for a new Case and Cool-It Liquid system for approx $150. $30 eliminates the high pitch whine, $150 gives me almost complete silence. :\
 
I think Bulldozer is on the way early. Earlier on Anandtech there was a blurb about the new Nehalem server chips here, http://anandtech.com/show/3712/intel-announce-super-westmereex-for-servers. But what I found interesting was the comment competing against magny cours and bulldozer. I found that odd because I thought we would see Sandy Bridge before bulldozer. So I found it strange that the current Nehalem is being prepped to go against bulldozer and not Sandy bridge. Now I see that they are not going to release this product and here again I see a comment about the future AMD products.
 
Well I'm not disapointed by this, would have just been another Phenom II X4, nothing to spectacular unless you managed to get 6 stable cores from it. Thuban is manufactured a little differently than Deneb, I say keep it in the high end.
 
You can get an air cooler for much less that should be able to cool an X6 quietly. The Scythe Mugen-2 seems to be a pretty good value; it comes with a quiet fan, cools well, and can be found for about $40 US. I wouldn't bother with an expensive water setup, although if you have an old case with poor airflow, getting something that can breathe a little better might not be a bad idea.

This is the $30ish cooler I was thinking of according to some reviews it's quite decent.
