Computer Specs. AMD 4200 x2 processor, Windows XP pro 32 bit and 64 bit. Patriot 2gb of ram MSI K8N Neo 4 f motherboard with the newest bios update.

This my problem. My system is set up to dual boot Win xp x64 andregular 32 bit mode. In the x64 bit side just recently evey time I start or reboot It says it has found new APCI uniprocessor and says you need to reboot to finish installing the hardware. So I reboot and get the same message over and over again. Some time in device manager I can see two processors and sometimes only one. On my 32 bit side the hardware install message does not come up and I only see one processore listed. On my 32 bit I have not installed the amd patch yet. This problem only has been present for approx. the past 2 weeks and not before then. I do not have the stuttering problem some people have reported. I installed the amd patch on the 64 side yesterday with no improvement. Any ideas from anyone? would microsofts hot patch fix this?

You might want to try and older version of bios that still supports dual cores. If windows isn't seeing both cores, neither the hotfix nor AMD drivers will make it see both cores. You also want to make sure ACPI is enabled in the bios. When you isntalled the AMD driver on the 64bit version, did you make sure you installed a 64bit driver and not the 32 bit by accident?
