LOL, I did post the results from my overclocked dothan, at 2.4ghz it was 8 minutes slower than using a single core of my X2 @2.475ghz, not as bad as I expected, but also have half the memory and a slightly slower hard drive in the Dothan system as well.

I installed my raptors in raid-0 in the X2 system now. Sustained read is about 70mb/s compared to about 55mb/s with my single drive, so if there was some I/O limitation, it should have slightly higher CPU utilization. I'll post back again later today, gonna get it running and then go to sleep. Compressibility test is at 68-72% cpu usage, duration 2m 36s 81.92 FPS.

I am definitely looking forward to that...

What kind of cpu usage did your P4 w/ HT get or did you not try it on that system???

Nothing scientific but it seems my slower speed 2.0ghz and 2.2ghz test seem to have slightly higher cpu usage...plus that and the times were not linear in scale may suggest bottleneck somewhere...

Didn't run it on the P4, just had it running prime95 for 3 days strait since I am selling it. Strange thing is that since switching out my water cooling for a thermaltake jungle 512, that P4 has been running a lot cooler. I think there was something wrong with my xp-120, or it was just too big and something kept it from making good contact, because I haven't gotten above 54c with 2 instances of Prime running on it. Too late to run anything on it now since my raptors are wiped clean and in the X2 system for this test.

EDIT" Running the first pass, CPU utilization seems to be staying closer to 90-92% now, although occasionaly dropping in to the 70%'s, definatly higher than before, so maybe there is some I/O limitation. I am also at 2.53ghz now, so that will affect my speed some as well. Ok, really going to bed now lol, I'll post the results when I wake up..

Interesting on the P4...makes you want to OC it some more, huh???

I did some house cleaning and have some cables better arranged and testing my sons new whipser II 460watt PSU and I am noticing at 2.55ghz I am getting temps 3c lower under 2 instances of prime loading...I haven't even cracked 48c yet....

Came out a minute faster than my original, but I am at 2.53 instead of 2.475, and I"ve been messing with the ram timings, so I am going to run it again, without using the raptors.

EDIT: 33m 2s, 129.39 FPS on the first pass, not using the raptors. CPU usage seemed about the same, still not using 100%. I'll post the rest of the results in about 2.5 hours when I have my lunch break, time for work.

Second pass was 2 minutes slower, total time 4 minutes slower, looks like it took about a minute longer to split the files as well.

So not earth shattering...It makes sense on the file splitting definitely....

Got to get mark to run this on his Raid 5 setup now....

DIVX encodes faster than xvid. What are you guys getting for fps with xvid encodes. i will do a divx encode to see what my fps are for comparisons. SO happy i was told about this thread getting comparisons are few and far between

This is at 2.618Ghz, DDR374 2.5-3-3-7 1T, running with 4 sticks of ram at 2T seems to give me a pretty big performance hit.

We've been using lord of the rings fellowship of the ring, and return of the king for our testing. Using pre-defined size of 2 CD's 1400mb, audio output set to auto, and I set to fixed width of 528, for some reason thats what theirs does on auto, but mine doesnt' so I set it to fixed width to make the results comparable. If you look at the very first post, there are some links to the exact settings that were used. We are using autoGK 1.96, DivX 5.2.1.

yes i saw you were using LOTR i am running smaller files so i can see how much i can OC src should not matter for encoding time

is everyone testing w/ autogk? i use that for fast ripping but when testing w/ changing settings full gknot is much more configurable

ANyone want to do a few xvid tests? seems they are more taxing on cpu's. i get almost much better times on divx than xvid. i would love to see other reults.

stevty2889 on your 4200 proc what HT are you set at and which motherboard are using/ram type
