AMD X2 OC result

AMD X2 4200:
Speed: 2.52 GHz (240x10.5)
Vcore (as set in bios): 1.475V

I got it to run at 2.64GHz but it freezes after a while at 1.475V. Not sure if I should to raise it up to 1.5V since the default voltage reading in the bios was below 1.3V for the X2.

Update:
It seems to run stable at 1.425V for 2.52GHz. Looks like it'll take a lot of juice to get an extra 100MHz from it. It may not be worth it.

probably not, you generally have point where it requires a fairly significant voltage boost to get a small cpu boost, better to stay on the conservative side of that

Hey, your X2 results are similar to mine. 1.45v at 2.57ghz is about max stable..... I have a 4400+ week 21 (0521)

Do you have info on your chip???

Well, I was at 1.47-1.48 at 2560. I had a couple of freezes, and went down to 2530 and 1.42. Been OK for one day full load. Ask me again in a week (thats how long till I call it stable) I was at 2560 for about 8 weeks, and until the last week was stable as a rock. Maybe its gotten a little hotter even with the AC on, so I just went down a bit.

nope, unless if the retail box contains the chip info. AT review got it to 2.6+ at 1.45V i think. I don't think mine can do that.

4200+ 1.39 for 2.6 1.5 for 2.75. I keep it at 2.6.

Btw, I have a weird chip. It cant get Prime stable above 2.75 no matter how many volts I feed it. I would expect that I should have had better results since It takes so little increase in voltage to bump it that high, but my chip is weird......

that is some excellent results! have you tried 2.75 for any length of time stable, like running games? At 2.64/1.47 my system freezes when I run 3DMark05.

it seems that my cpu is going backwards as well. i ran it at 1.52v at 2592 for 3 weeks, 2 instances of prime stable for 24 hours. 3 days ago it started acting up. i have read that there is an issue with contact on one of the cores with the heat spreader and that causes one core to be a worse overclocker than the other. I am not interested in removing the heat spreader at this point and time. i have backed it down to 2440 at 1.47 volts and ddr 610 and am running prime as i type. i will keep you updated.

by the way, people running the x2 on the dfi nforce4, what system voltage are you running at? 1.5,1.6,1.7,1.8
just wondering what temps people are getting

Well its prime stable at 2.75 for 14 hours.. core 1 failed after that, but who knows that might just be a fluke :0 It was a very muggy hot night too heh. I can't get it above 2.75 no matter how much vcore I pump in. I thought I had a wonderchip, but turned out not be a wonderchip heh.

what cooling are u on hacp? if its air, then its probably too hot to go further unless u got a tornado on there on full blast

also, my voltages for the what i stated are what i set in bios

smart guardian for the dfi and all the other programs read it as 1.53v when i set it at 1.45x1.1 in bios

I have been running at 2.563ghz for 2 weeks solid Folding at Home 2 instances, encoded a few XVIDs AVIS, converted some old Divx to TMPGenc, and nay thing I wanted to....

Voltage is 1.456 idle to 1.472-1.488 load (fluctuates a bit)..Temps are 50-51c during day and dip below 50c at night....
