AMD X2 4600/4800 memory ?

I currently have a AMD64 3500+ venice core with 1gb ram(512x2) and thinking about upgrading to the 4600 or the 4800 toledo core on the same mobo(MSI Neo 4 platinum non-SLI). Does the dual core cpu have the memory problem that the old Althon 64 chips used to have where using more than 2 sticks of ram will cause a performance drop.
 
I still think it might do to some degree, I.e. it's still best with two sticks, but I don't think it's that bad now... I'm not 100% sure though.
