Ok, I've got this setup running at 3220mhz stable, without overvolting and I underclocked the memory from 400 to 383. Running a-data 2 x 2gb sticks ddr2 800 with heatspreaders. The northbridge frequency keeps going up with the CPU. I am at 230hz, and the northbridge will stay at a constant 2300mhz. At 240hz the computer wont boot. I tried adjusted the htlink to 2.0ghz and the nb multiplier to x9, but its still staying at 2300. Any suggestions on what I can do to lower the NB freq?

ok, i dropped the htlink to 1.6, and nb mult. to x8 and the nb frequency is at 1920mhz now. Running at 400(800 since ddr2) memory, 3.35ghz cpu. stable with prime 95 and max core temp of 51 celsius. The vcore is at 1.49, I have the voltages to auto, and cant find a max spec on amd's website. Is that close to the limit?

you don't need that much voltage for 3.35,i run my 240 at 3.6, 1.35 volts.I have a gigabyte motherboard and it sets the volts to 1.475 if i leave it at normal. If you set it to -.50 it will be 1.350 and run a lot cooler

ok, cool. The only thing is i dont believe i have undervolt options. just 0, +.1. +.2, +.3 and+.4. I guess I'll set it at 0 and see what happens. What kind of NB freq are you running on the 3.6? I found ou tmy RAM is the weak link. I had my NB at 2400 and it was fine. I scaled the ram from 800 to 920, and it would boot, but I had errors in prime 95 almost instantly. I only have the two case fans running now. Waiting on a fan controller before I hook up my noisy fans 24/7. I might do it tonight and see where I can get on the lowest voltage setting. It's hard to find many people giving in depth guides or details on these processors but they seem to overclock like a dream

I have that same board, and it definitely DOES have undervolt options. I ran an Athlon II 245 @ 2.5 GHz and ~1.008v for a while to run some tests for the guy who ended up buying the chip off of me. Same chip did ~3.7 GHz on stock volts, possibly higher if I could have gotten HT up higher on the motherboard. So I think that your RAM is your limiting factor, but if you lower RAM multiplier, you should be able to raise HT further. Those chips DO overclock like a dream, from my experience.

I must've been thinking of my other board. Found all the volt options. Right now I'm at
3.5Ghz
2500mhz HT and NB
416 RAM
stock voltage(1.42 according to the mobo)
Temps are 54C on the NB and 45C on the CPU under full load

At -.025 VCORE the 2nd core failed during prime95. Gonna run it tonight and see if its stable on stock voltage. I turned the ht and nb and RAM way down and it won't boot at 255mhz or higher on stock volts. I'd rather just OC as much as I can on the stock volts. Running nice and cool now, don't really need any mor eCPU power. If I do I might bump it up some, I'm not even utilizing my two noisy fans I bought that push 69cfms on the side of the case. Just have the two case fans, CPU fan, power supply fan, and the stock fan on my 4870.

i cant get it stable in prime at 3500 for more than 15 minutes....i tried up to 1.5 volts. Dropped down to 3430(245 bus) and it seems to be stable at 1.42. What are you guys doin gto make them stable at 3.6? Mine won't even boot at 1.5volts and 260 bus speed. With RAM and HT and NB turned way down it just sounds the BIOS error alarm three times then reverts to the safety default. A little help?

Mine was an Athlon II 245, and it ran ~3.8 on stock volts. Maybe yours just isn't as good of an overclocker.
