AMD Wireless vs. Intel Wireless

Because I'm too busy anymore to stay in the hardware loop, can somebody explain to me WTF a processor has to do with wireless networking?

Sure, material wise it's cheap, but it's also a major PITA to run and add to areas where you don't have a drop ceiling.

I'm not a home-improving type of guy who can put cat5e cables through walls, so wireless for me.
