Inquirer link.
I know, I know, just because the Inquirer says something, that doesn't mean it's true, but reliable sources have informed me that the Opteron *56 indeed exists.
I heard that AMD plans to release the Opteron 256 March 13th, as said by the Inq, and that the Opteron 156, the last Opteron for S939 will be available around mid-April.
This, of course, means that we might see an FX-59 part clocked at 3.0 GHz.
If this isn't enough, here's the specs:
Cache: 1 MB
Frequency: 3.0 GHz (3000 MHz)
Price: Unknown, estimates vary from $800 to $1200 for the Opteron 156, and $900 to $1500 for the Opteron 256. Pricing for the Opteron 856, if it will be released, is unknown.
Perhaps our Opteron expert, davegraham, could say a few words?
(Edit for grammatical mistake.)
