I have a AMD Sempron 3000+, and I was wondering if I need to RMA it, I was told I need the original HSF, but does it need to have the stock thermal pad still intact?

if you've used it... then the stock thermal pad WOULDN'T be intact.

Just do it without it or find someone that has a stock HSF with the thermal pad intact.

Well if the thermal pad was intact, it will only make AMD think that you never used the CPU, or running the CPU without a HSF.

well not intact..don't they generally conform to the chip so they get an imprint of the chip. atleast for the ones i've seen they dont stick to the chip. and theydon't break up when u remove the hs
