AMD Warranty Question

I'm considering picking up a used amd processor to save a bit of money but have a question regarding the warranty. For the retail processors is the warranty limited to the person that originally buys the processor, or is the warranty tied to the processor itself and good for anyone that uses it.

The warranty transfers, but you will need a copy of the original invoice...

Except that there are channel delays that require the receipt. For instance, if you bought a chip that had been sitting in inventory for 6 months, the 3 year warranty would continue from the date of purchase, not the date of manufacture...
 
So if i bought a processor off someone but didnt get a copy of the original invoice would I be screwed or would i still have some kind of warranty?

I believe they would go by the date on the cpu itself, in the case that the reciept was not available.
 
I have used the amd warranty a couple of times.

They ask you when you bought your chip and the number on the chip.

Then they will ask you for the number on the fan and in some cases the number on the box the cpu came in.

If everything is fine they will send you a new boxed cpu and fan, you put your old stuff in the box and ship it back. Of course they keep your credit card info on file just incase you don't send the cpu back, or it turns out the chip was moded.

Never mention Overclocking or using a third party heatsink.
 
Ok so provided I have the original retail box, fan, and obviously processor I should be ok for the warranty even without the proof of purchase.
