AMD vs PENTIUM?!

Hey all, i'm new to amd and really i dont know much about their tech, i've read analysis on athlon 64 x2 vs pentium d 800 series. my big question is how does the athlon 64 x2 compare with the pentium 900 series. Also i'm looking to build a new system and my budget is 3000 bux, so if anyone could find me a way to pack in atleast 2 gigs of ram, 200 gig HD, two 7900 gtxs running in SLI, and an Athlon 64 x2 comparable to a pentium 940, i would be extremly greatfull. I would need to know what specific hadware you would be talking about. Thanks in Advance.

Ps. The system is going to be used for heavy graphics work, extremely large photoshop files and very huge 3d apps.

Relax Bro. Thats what these forums are for. To make an informed decision.

As some1 said. If u can wait wait for conroe. If not get the X2 4400. SHould probably be good enuff for what u do.

Additionally u might want to check if the 3d app u use and Photoshop is available for 64 Bit windows. That way u could up the memory to 4 gigs and take advantage of it.
 
You also need to make absolutely sure those video card will be used by your 3D apps, otherwise, they are a total waste of a lot of money.
 
you do not need a 7900gtx for heavy use of photoshop. take a look at some matrox video cards. they offer supperior 2d graphics.
