AMD versus Intel Noise Level

Because AMD Athlons require special fan cooling solutions , does this this mean that AMD based systems are significantly noiseier than their Intel counterparts ?
As I am considering getting a 1Ghz Athlon based system , this question is important for me .
Thanks.

Both Intel and AMD require better HSF solutions especially when you're trying to overclock above the 1000Mhz "barrier".

I would say no in general, however you can get fans that make too much noise for both AMD & Intel,so shop around since all types(both loud & quite ) fans are available.

The only noise I hear is my overclocked CPU screaming....

The cpu fan noise is no big deal unless you leave your box open or use a 38cfm Delta or equivalent. I had 4 case fans that were a bit noisy, but now I only run 2. It stays just as cool, but each case is different. It depends on your noise level tolerance mostly.

I have my wifes box set up with an overclocked Duron on an MSI KT7 Pro2a and a Global WIn fop32-1. Hers also has only 2 case fans and oddly it is much quieter than mine. Same case, same fans, except for the heatsink. I am using the Hedgehog, so maybe it whines more than the Globalwin.

The stock cooling fans for both brands are extremely quiet, however the ones on AMD processors are considerably higher-performance, or at least the one my roommate has is, compared to the many P3, P2, and Celeron stock fans I've seen. The Intel fans are almost inaudible even with my ear right next to them, yet they put out so little airflow that you may as well not have one at all. I and my roommate have both run into instances where replacing a stock Intel fan and heatsink brought a system down into a stable zone where the system was able to run, whereas with stock, the systems would barely run a day without crashing (even though the rest of the case was very well ventilated).

Can you guys believe that My Alpha PAL6035 with a quiet Adda fan is as quiet as Intel's stock heatsink.

I think both Intel or AMD CPUs need good cooling solution for their 1Gig and above CPUs.
