That's probably a greater reflection of AMD minuscule install-base among OEMs than anything else.

That is because the majority of intel users are not computer users. They have an intel because they have a Dell, gateway, or some other pre-built machine. Those that use AMD generally have done a fair amount of research which in itself requires the user to know quite a bit.

I use an Intel right now because it is simply better then AMD's current offerings. In the future I hope to have something from AMD, but only if they provide something decent. This "scientific study" is fairly pointless as it is almost like saying "Those that have TI-89 calculators are smarted then those that buy from the bargin bin and walmart!" Correlation is not causation.

no1 claimed it to be cause and effect lol, but there is a significant difference, which is probably easy to explain. If intel stays in the lead things might reverse later on. Although being top dog in the cpu industry doesn't mean everything, as long as AMD can keep up in the midrange stuff, things might just stay the same

What "recent study" is this article citing? They say Intel users have a lower IQ but then talk about computer skills. Last I checked, the standard IQ test didn't have anything to do with computer skills. I have an Opteron system but I think this article says more about the IQ of the writer and the site's editor(s) than the brand of processor does about the IQ of its user.

Dumbest_post_ever. For 90+% of people, the brand of cpu sitting in their PC is a totally irrelevant aspect. Some of the biggest morons I've ever met are the type of people who are 'Intel only!' or 'AMD only!'. Brand preference in something like that is evidence of idiocy of the 1st degree. Get what performs best for your budget/needs, and go with it. For many (most) people who have PCs, it doesn't matter anyway, as they just use it as a tool for checking email, browsing the web, or working with office docs, in which case either a recent AMD or Intel proc will do nicely.

The sad thing is politicians use these same kind of BS statistics to manipulate voters and tax $$ all the time.

A very common and unfortunate example is when they use their state's average SAT scores to show their educational programs working (while they're really cutting funding to education in their state). A politician from a state like Georgia will say they have even higher average SAT scores than a state with double the educational funding per kid, such as New York (I don't remember exactly which states, but I think Georgia was an example).

What they don't tell you is that in their state students are only required to take the ACT, not the SAT. So the only students actually taking the SAT are the 10% of students trying to get into Ivy league colleges, a highly self-selected group. Whereas in New York, every high school student is required to take the SAT. So of course the average SAT scores in Georgia will be as high or higher.
