Amd user, need help picking a Intel motherboard

I currently am running a Abit NF7-s version 1.0 that has treated me well with no problems at all. I'm helping someone who wants those hyper threading technology chips. I want pentium board for a Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 800MHz chip, that is reliable as my abit. This new system will not be overclocked so I need a reliable board so the person will not come to me with problems that may occur. thx

Look at the ABIT IS7 Dual Ch ram, firewire, raid, 6ch sound, etc.....

See if you can find that giga board on the front page of anandtech.com that uses the new 655FX chipset. That looks ot be really good but not out yet as far as I know.

I would have to second the Abit IS7 motherboard.

I am also a AMD user, but on my most recent system upgrade to Intel on my primary rig. Current specs are a Abit IS7 mobo with 2-512mb Corsair XMS3200LL-PLT and Intel P4 2.6c with Zalman 7000Al-Cu HSF

It love this configuration. It is fast and trouble free.

Reliable and no OC'ing with an Intel processor says Intel mobo to me. Go with the 875 chipset for max performance and 865 chipset to save a few $'s.

Get the IS7 or the IC7 if you want to spend a bit more......................both stable as hell with lots of extra features and great ability to OC.................🙂

if you are planning to Overclock (maybe in the future?), then go with Abit IS7(I865) or Abit IC7 (I875). If you have no plans to overclock now or in the future, then get an INTEL motherboard.
