One of my brokers actually called me today to ask me if I knew why AMD was up so much today, because he nor the rest of his associates could figure it out, other than "shorts" covering and lots of small traders, there was no major institutional money moving in to AMD from what they could find out. By all accounts, AMD would/should have been hammered - AMD missed already-revised earnings numbers, gave the same weak sales forecast as Intel, ie. sales down 15% for Q1, very poor earnings as % of revenues, etc.
If you're not "long", sell in to the rally that is happening now. Once earnings season and the January 'Fed meeting is over, the tech rally will sell off a good bit again.
