I don't think the solution will work for gamers (the ones that drive the high end) because your talking about the ability to process 4 threads at once rather than 2. Its not going to give you that much steam in current games eventhough i think its an interesting solution.

I don't think this is just some attempt to out do Conroe. Both of these articles suggest that AMD is trying new things, besides just making existing processors faster. I consider it to be this kind of innovation that lead them to on-die memory controller, which turned out pretty well.

I don't know if these ideas will pan out, but I'm glad that AMD is still trying new things, not just clocks/IPC.
