Just got this in a letter from AMD.

AMD-K6(r)-2 Desktop Family to become obsolete

* AMD is announcing the obsolescence of the AMD-K6-2 Desktop Processor Family.

* Market demand for higher performance products and our increasing Fab capacity for AMD Duron processor products has
necessitated the obsolescence of the K6-2 Desktop Family of products.

* Application Impact: The AMD-K6-2 Desktop Processor Family is not expected to be available after the dates listed below.
Please contact your sales representative for information regarding the migration to AMD Duron devices.

* Last Order Date: October 1, 2000 Last Shipment Date: December 22, 2000

I got the same message from AMD. You're right, Rand, we all knew it was just a matter of time. It was good to get the official annoucement though, because I just sold my wife's K6/2-based system 2 days prior to receiving the e-mail from AMD. :D

Timing is everything!
