I wonder why multi-threading never made it as a real hit with the "enthusiest" market?
Yea, hyperthreading.... blah... I'm talking about Real 2 processor computers.

I would have thought it would have gained some momentum with the AMD MP's... but ya just don't hear much hooplah about it. :disgust:

I REALLY enjoyed having a dualy way back when... even if it was crappy cely 500's.

Because many enthusiasts are gamers first and anything else second, and duallies do little or nothing for gaming? Anywho, looks like the IBM alliance is showing up in AMD tech eh?

I found this surprising too: "Late last month, Current Analysis, a research firm in La Jolla, California, reported that for the week of April 24, the percentage of personal computers sold using AMD chips had surpassed those using Intel chips, with Advanced Micro at 52 percent of PCs sold and Intel at 47 percent. "

What's more important is their continued penetration in to the server and workstation market. That's where the money is and that's where they have the cross hairs centered :light:

it was intel that said that nobody wanted 64bit, then AMD releases opteron/athlon64, intel was quick to copy

Should be interesting to see if Intel follows with an onboard memory controller as well. AMD is sitting pretty right now, but they cant just sit on the fence. Intel will most likely come back with a hell of a IPC powered chip. So, 2005 will be VERY interesting.

I think AMD has had this in the pans for years. The opteron was designed to make this transition easy for when the time did come.
