AMD and TI have an overview of their Discovery Project that creates designs for fanless tablets, 2-in-1s and multi-form factor mobiles with Dockport expansion capabilities. Puma class APUs codenamed “Mullins” and “Beema” powering the designs are projected to have more than 2x the performance-per-watt of the previous generation Jaguar.
The new APUs support Microsoft InstantGo for fast wake times and allow data such as email to actively update in standby. Beema and Mullins are the first to integrate an AMD-developed platform security processor based on the ARM Cortex-A5 featuring ARM TrustZone for enhanced data security. The new low-power APUs are companions to the high-performance notebook Kaveri APU in AMD's 2014 mobile lineup.
These new tablets with Puma class X86-64 combined with a whole range of sensors and DockPort desktop productivity capabilities are very impressive compared to Apple iPads and Google tablets.
