AMD Threadripper 2950X

The higher end I can see pre-order as it gives them some kind of allocation data to meet the demand. The lower tiers will get the bulk of the manufacturing anyways. No need to pre-order if they'll be the bulk skus.

I am sure that Amazon and NewEgg are trying to get every dollar of of existing stock of 1950x before they sell new 2950x otherwise the prices of 1900x, 1920x and 1950x would be lower. We may not see the 2950x until Monday.

I am waiting for my $399 1920x from EBay, since it will be a while I may cancel it and do the 2950x instead. I can wait the same amount of time and maybe see the 2950x discounted.

I've been watching the 1920x as I think I may grab one for a DC rig, but I've yet to see the new $399 price. I could've gotten one on eBay for around $360 ($420 - 15% coupon) but would prefer Amazon or Newegg.

Was the 1950X right at $1k at launch?

Yes, I managed to combine it with a $25 off promo when I originally purchased it right around launch and paid $974.99.

The fact that the 2950X is not only better, but $100 cheaper just makes it that much better of a deal.

Of course the real winner for entry into HEDT is going to the 1920X on sale at it's new "suggested" price of $399, whenever that happens.

So now I have to watch for these, crap. Why can't everybody just start using the new MSRP of $299 and $399

Well, look at the bright side - eBay has those 15% coupons pretty frequently (it almost seems like once per month the past few months), so if/when we do see those $399 prices, that means we’ll be able to get the 1920x for around $340 off eBay.

In case I don't see the next coupon, please PM me !

Question: Does buying 4 stick of memory put an X399 motherboard in 4-channel mode or are 8 sticks required? I believe with two sticks you are in 2 channel mode? Is my understanding correct?
