AMD Stock - sell?

My dad bought in at $9 and I'm thinking he should sell at 37 -or should he hold onn? Thoughts?

The stock saw $50 5.5 years ago. I believe it'll go above it again, but it all depends on how long you want to wait.

I think he should sell, that's a great profit for him already... and from Intel's news the other day the future doesnt look as bright as once thought

I say sell. There is no reason to expect it to stay that high for long. About 8 times in the last decade it goes high and falls back to ~$10/share. Profits are inconsistant, and minimal when they do come in. I just see this as a good time to take the money and run until AMD is low again. Sure he may miss the exact highest peak, but when does anyone get it exactly at the peak?

How long term of an investment is it? How much is it? Does he need the money? Could you offset any of the capital gains?

It's not a simple yes/no question. At the most, knowing as little as I do about your situation, just put in a stop loss order, don't sell.
