AMD socket A/462 heatsink weight limit

I have an AMD socket A/462 motherboard (HP Compaq FIC AU31), which has a 3-prong clip for attaching a heatsink, and no holes around the socket. I'm thinking of getting a new heatsink, which weighs 470g with out the fan.

I thought I read somewhere that socket A motherboards have a weight limit of 300g for the heatsink. Is this weight limit true, and would I have a problem using a heatsink that is 470g + a fan. Also, has anyone used a heatsink over 300g with a socket A motherboard using only the 3-prong clip.

Generally any heatsink that utilizes the socket prongs should be fine. Most of the heavy heatsinks require mounting holes in the motherboard like the Thermaltake Big Typhoon.

I used some heavy clip ons with that platform, just be very careful and even with the pressure as chipping the edges off the core is pretty damned easy. I did that with a Duron, but fortunately it didn't effect stability or operation.
