AMD sells more processors for desktop retail market than Intel

For the first time, AMD has sold more processors for the desktop retail market than Intel. The rise of multi-media machines have helped, and the success of HP's Pavilion a1130n Media Center PC was a factor; but for the first time ever, AMD shipped 52% of all desktop processors in systems sold at the retail level.

At least for the month of September, as difficult as it may be to believe, Intel was the underdog.
 
Hard to know for certain, but I want to believe the TV spots work. Seeing as I've been siting it as one of the primary reasons for lackluster sales in the past, despite excellent products, it'd be nice to be correct for a change 😛
